2008 SUNOCO SUPER CHALLENGE POINTS SERIES
In 2008, Raceway Park will continue with its two division points series on the quarter mile. The divisions include the Bucks Division and the Trophy Division. The Bucks Division is open to Super, Pro and Motorcycle/Snowmobile eliminators (see payout elsewhere). The top 16 points finishers in Super and Pro will receive cash awards at the end of the season. The top 4 finishers in Motorcycle/Snowmobile ET**will receive cash awards as well. The top 19 in Super ET**, top 20 in Pro ET** and the top 4 in Motorcycle/Snowmobile ET** will receive a Raceway Park points jacket (**See Below). The Trophy Division will include Street ET, Real Street, Pro Dial Dash, Top Street Motorcycle (see article elsewhere in this issue) and the four Corvette Classes (see article elsewhere in this issue). The top 8 drivers in Street ET will receive Raceway Park jackets and the top 5 will receive cash awards as well. The top 6 drivers in Real Street will receive jackets and the top 4 of this class will also earn cash awards. The top 4 Top Street Motorcycle finishers will receive jackets and cash awards. The top points finisher in Pro Dial Dash will earn a Raceway Park jacket as well. On the eighth mile, the top 2 Junior Dragster racers from each category, A, B, C, D and Quick 16 will receive savings bonds. The top 4 in each class will receive their Raceway Park jackets. The top 2 Trophy Stock finishers will receive Raceway Park jackets and the top 4 will earn cash awards. The 2008 Sunoco Super Challenge Points Series on the quarter mile will consist of 11 Sunday race dates. The eighth mile points series will consist of 12 race dates. Racers may refer to the sample points sheet found in this issue of the Raceway News to see the sign up fee for the different points categories. Refer to the 2008 Raceway Park season schedule for a complete listing of the points dates for each class. Drivers may compete in more than one eliminator on the same day, but it is their responsibility to be in the staging lanes when called. If the same car is used more than once in an eliminator, such as two racers sharing, it is the driver's responsibility to make sure the car number is correct for the current racer. Drivers can sign up for points by mail or at the track on a race day. In order to gain points on a race day, racers must sign up prior to first round. One bonus point will be awarded to all who have signed up before first round on the initial points day, March 16. No back-dating of points allowed. Points will be earned from date of sign up. NHRA competition numbers and memberships will be honored and will be required of all drivers qualified for the NHRA Division 1 Summit ET Finals. NHRA numbers and memberships are available through the NHRA. One of the benefits of being an NHRA member is that it makes you eligible for the National DRAGSTER Be a Winner/Be a Member program. Your name will automatically be entered into the program if you have an NHRA membership and win an eliminator on a race day. The program qualifies racers to win prizes through the National DRAGSTER.
Points will be awarded in the following manner:
## The rating point system: Each driver will be rated according to his/her position in the standings. The rating system will begin after competition on the fifth point's day. The rating will be as follows: If a racer is in first place, one rating point will be awarded; second place will receive two rating points, third place will receive three rating points, etc. If two or more racers are tied with the same amount of points for any position, they will each receive the same amount of rating points i.e. tied for fifth each racer gets five rating points. After the sixth point's day, the rating numbers will be increased based upon what place the racer is in. This will continue through the end of the Points Series. On the last points day, if a racer is in seventh place and earns enough points on that day to move him/her into a tie for third place, the racer with the lower rating points will finish the year in third place and the higher rating points racer will be fourth. The only way a runoff will be necessary is if the earned points, number of wins, and rating points are the same. If after the tiebreaker, a result for a position has not been determined, a one-run run-off will occur. NHRA SUMMIT ET FINALS INFORMATION
